Tuesday 3rd June saw 130 of Dovecote Parks producers gather at Home Farm in Withcall, Louth for the Dovecote Park and Waitrose Producers Open Day, graciously hosted this year by the AW Smith and Sons family.
After being welcomed by Martin Smith, Andrew Allchurch from Waitrose and Dovecote Park’s Cattle Procurement Manager Kate Sutton, the farmers, along with several directors and the livestock team were treated to a tractor tour around the farm and a bus tour of the surrounding area.

Everyone was also given an opportunity to visit the on-site museum, which displayed a remarkably well preserved range of historical agricultural machinery.
The day was not just focused on beef, as the crowd were given a chance to place bets on the pig racing and try their luck at the hay pitching competition.

The day drew to a close with a hog roast, the Dovecote Park pub quiz, and a live magician giving the producers and Dovecote Park staff a chance to relax and socialise with one another.
With superb weather all day, informative and welcoming hosts and a chance to witness excellent farming practice first hand, the open day was overall a great success – thanks to all who attended and to the livestock team for all their hard work in organising it!
