We are delighted to announce the appointments of Carl Hullah as Boning Hall Manager at our Stapleton plant, and of Leon McDonald as Assistant Boning Hall Manager, effective as of May.
Carl moves into the position of Manager after nearly four years of employment at Dovecote Park, previously serving as Assistant Manager of the department.
'I've been a butcher ever since I left school - I came to Dovecote as a training manager from Dawn Meats, and my original role was to grade all the butchers on their skills and assess them from there.
As manager one thing I want is to get a lot more women trained on the knife- we've got five girls now, which is more than we've ever had before.
I also want to make sure everyone in every area feels like part of the team, and just ensure that we continue to improve as a department.'
'There are a lot of changes going on with the layout of the boning hall, including a training line, which will give more people the opportunity to learn, and improve their skills, and improve the business through product quality and higher yields.'
Leon, who takes over Carls previous position as Assistant Manager, is one of Dovecote's longest serving butchers, celebrating his sixteenth work anniversary with the company in June, having joined us straight from school.
'I started right out of school, working under Jeff Kirby (Primary Production Manager) then under Steve Rowlett (Retail Manager), then began to learn on the knife, learning how to trim to specification.
Similarly to Carl, I want to develop my own skills as a manager, develop a better understanding of the business, and how we can improve and develop ourselves as a company . I look forward to working more with Carl - we've worked together for a long time and get on really well - I think it will be a bright future!'
Dovecote Park would like to congratulate Carl and Leon on their well deserved promotions, and wish them every success in their new positions!
